Internet access error messages on fixed college PCs and SafeCom printing issue

ISLT are aware that some users continue to encounter error messages on certain college PCs when trying to access the web via browsers.

These messages include ‘proxy error’ and ‘authorisation failed’.

While we have been testing a fix for these machines, some students have ran into a further issue where the SafeCom shared printing service is unavailable.

As we continue to work on and apply fixes across our PCs we would ask that users continue to follow the steps below to restore internet access if they run into the previously mentioned errors:

  1. Click the windows menu button in the bottom left hand side of the screen
  2. Type ‘cmd’ in the search box
  3. In the window that appears type gpupdate and press return/enter
  4.  Close the window (and any browser windows)
  5.  Reopen your browser
